Trekking the GR5 from Geneva to the Mediterranean: part II (full) The Grand Traverse of the Alps is one of the most beautiful and personally rewarding treks in the world. The GR5, as it is also known, runs from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean along alpine slopes, lush pastures, mountain glaciers, & flower-filled French villages.

The Via Alpina could offer nothing else and still be world-class. The chocolate, historic villages, on-time trains, and luxe hut system are pure gravy.

  • Bicycle Garden Route to Cape Town Along the white beaches of the Indian Ocean, through evergreen forests and the desolate Karoo, through the wild solitude of the Swartberg Mountains, in the Wine lands of the Cape and further to Cape Town, one of the most beautiful metropolises in the world. Mountain passes, solitary gorges, breathtaking coastline—all on very good, European standard roads. From November to March is the South African summer, which means, cycling with lots of sun in warm temperatures in the Cape Province.
